Miniati, MS holds a Master’s Degree in Sport Management and combines her passion for sports and a lifetime of organizing events to introduce new “Picklers” to this exciting, social, fun and healthy game, and coach experienced players to improve their game to the next level.

I recently moved to Middletown and am excited to help More Joy bring the love of pickleball to Aquidneck Island. A lifelong competitive athlete - I was sidelined from pickup soccer after two knee surgeries. I didn't think I'd find something that would bring that same level of joy and fun - until PICKLEBALL! I love that it's such a social sport that ANYONE can learn - and play as much or as little as they'd like. When not playing pickleball, I work locally in Newport, am working on my doctorate in public health, and I am dog mom to two rescue pups. Can't wait to see you on the court!"

Pickleball came into my life several years ago, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I had just hung up my tennis shoes, I had just gone through a separation, and I was looking for something to fill my time. When Matt (boyfriend and fellow coach) introduced me to this sport, I never looked back. Now, 3 years later, I’m happy to say that this game has changed my life, seriously, my life, for the better. I only wish there was more time in the day - so I could play more! I’ve met the best people, traveled to some cool places, and have found something that I can take with me, through the rest of my life. I hope to bring my enthusiasm and love of this sport to all I meet and teach!

My new passion is pickleball! I come from a competitive tennis background so was immediately drawn to this great, up and coming sport. I'm also a competitive swimmer (that's how I met MJ) and have done some triathlons. I love working with people to develop and hone their pickleball skills. There is so much to learn, and it's a game where it's easy to see improvement. When I coach, however, it isn't just about skill development - it's about having fun, enjoying your time on the court and feeling good about yourself and your game.

The Alex’s Smile Fund was established by Mary Jean “M.J.” Miniati as a tribute to her son, Alex, who passed away at the age of 4 ½. Alex attended Meeting Street and was a happy and loving child whose infectious smile touched the lives of everyone he met. The Fund helped Meeting Street construct its therapeutic pool, which is used every day by students both with and without special needs. Your support of the Alex’s Smile Fund makes it possible for hundreds of children to enjoy the pool at Meeting Street, and supports the School’s aquatic therapy program.
